- A Video Game from out of this World -
Or is it?
Meet The Nomad Soul, a video game developed by Quantic Dream and published by Eidos Interactive in 1999.
This video game is so different from others that we could be surprised of its released date, I personally never found another video game that includes that much freedom, beauty, mystery, knowledge and of course entertainment.
We usually never are confronted while we're playing a video game with a person coming out of our computer screen telling us that we'll have to remove our soul from our body into this person's body so we can start investigating into his world that strangely looks like ours...
Despite the amazing gun and hand to hand combat that were really advanced for a game of its generation, The Nomad Soul is far to be focused on physical violence but would tend to a push of concern to what's going on in our societies today as it shows within its futuristic world a radical system that forbids its people to be free of speech or even free of liberty.
And so in my opinion this game also takes us in a journey of understanding and reminding more easily what we're doing on this planet.
As a dream would be a virtual world so is a video game, a movie or a book, right?
The main problem with video games and TV today could come from the way they're presented.
As most of the video games look for violence, leveling system that takes its players days to play with and/or sometime having to pay items with real money to obtain a decent account we began to forget that there are infinite ways to realize a video game that can be as well as the present ones, full of entertainment but without their main counterparts.
We also do not have enough games that present us a way to learn life in general, despite the learning games for children that teach them how to read and count we do not have many games that educate us on a certain philosophy of understanding...(except of course the philosophy of destroying environment and living being).
Unfortunately, the TV isn't spare from the same problems and that's probably why the internet is so famous today as we can look for whatever news or programs we're seeking.
But the TV is more than a simple problem that could limit our mental to a certain knowledge, for too many years it has been monitoring people to specified information, I don't have to go to conspiracy theories to simply realize that news are most likely giving us violence and economy topics and that TV programs are formatting us to think and live in a monolithic concept which seeks to reflect the way we're living today.
After it's your choice to decide whether this concept is moved by the consciousness of us all or by something else...
And so The Nomad Soul is revealing what could also be created as a different and good video game because it surrounds a large number of possibilities, a serious scenario that could be used for a real good book or movie, a meaning of knowledge, a unique genre added with David Bowie's music, the ability to switch bodies with other characters and even the choice to decide multiple answers and paths which was a pretty rare concept from the other games that were released previously or during the same year.
It also gives us an easier view to observe the environment as we're not in it but entirely placed out of any danger or first person confrontation. And so in this perspective we'll be more able to visualize what's going on in the paths of the character we're playing with but also in the paths we're in during our everyday lives as the game demonstrates a world similar to ours.
Well this game is a perfect picture of a lightly more limited world from ours where we're able to distinguish its propagandist advertises and information more easily.
Meanwhile, I encourage you to try this game and its experience if you'd like to approach something that could very much be a slice of awakeness.
And please don't be too rude about its graphism as it was realized almost 15 years ago. The eye will get very quickly used to it after an hour or so.
And if you want to play another amazing game with wonderful graphic that is somehow related to The Nomad Soul in its possibilities look for its creators new baby: Heavy Rain that could very well be a future post on this blog.(Only playable on Playstation 3...)
