- Don't mind your Mind -
This exercise is a simple ritual allowing the practitioner to experiment knowledge out of his mental control.
What you need:
- Some time for yourself
- The will and mood to spend this time for relaxing and experimenting
- A comfortable chair or bed or whatever sits you feel relax onto.
- A watch or clock with needles next to you
- A natural environment affront of you (garden, sky, forest, sea etc...)
As this exercise is personal to me I'm unable to know if it will work for you the way it works for me but to give it more chances for you to use it I won't go too much in details to allow you to have as much freedom as possible during this practice.
So my method isn't mean to guide you step by step in different levels of consciousness because I think this would condition your mental too much into my personal structured experience.
I simply would like to represent this exercise as a tool that you might find useful sometime to relax, protect or center yourself.
You can start this exercise at anytime and anywhere, just be sure to begin it at least 3-4 hours after you ate so your body won't use much energy while its in a digestion process. I found it even better to do totally fasted during the day of the exercise.
I also found this exercise better to do while I was sitting or half-laying (only the legs are totally laid, the trunk and the head are a bit upper the surface of the bed) but I'll let you be the judge of that, just be sure to be immobilized at the beginning of the ritual.
Music will guide your spirit to declare itself so I encouraged you to listen meditation songs but with a percussion rhythm from Native American or African drums for example.
Few of the songs in this link or this one can be interesting but it's just an example, take what songs you think could be the best to make you relax. Don't make it too loud nor too low so the music can speaks to you as the voice of a person would do.
If you are a smoker and want to smoke during the exercise do so but make sure that the smoke doesn't disturb you.
Take a watch with indicators / needles with you if you're not next to a clock and look at it without focusing on what time is it, just observe the indicators and the numbers on it for a while then start to look at the natural environment placed affront of you.
Feel the music coming to your entire being as you become one with it.
If your head wants to move let it move the way it wants to.
Don't try to control yourself nor your mind by letting the thoughts coming naturally to you.
Try to picture those thoughts and images as a spectator would do while he is watching a movie.
Whenever you feel tired or having a strange pressure on your head look at your watch again until you feel rested then you can keep doing the practice.
That should be it, nothing complicated here, just focus on the music and observe your natural environment.
Whatever pictures and thoughts are coming to your mind, observe them as a spectator without trying to think about it during the exercise.
Whatever information you might receive during this practice is personal so I only am showing you a way that might or might not help to open to your self conscience.
Feel free to add your personal comments about this exercise.
